ALTR HOUSE DIDN'T START WITH SOFTWARE.
IT STARTED WITH A SEWING MACHINE ON A KITCHEN TABLE DURING THE PANDEMIC.
When the world shut down, Karly started sewing masks. What began as a small effort quickly turned into something bigger, with every dollar going straight back into fabric, elastic, and thread so she could keep making more. As production grew, she realized she could do even more. She invited anyone working in hospitals or medical settings to message her directly. If their hospital was out of N-95 masks, she sent surplus masks to them. No charge. Just help where it was needed.
By the end, she had sewn over 1,000 masks by hand.
KARLY has always been the kind of sewist who understands clothing from the inside out. Not just how it looks, but how it’s constructed. She drafts patterns. She understands geometry. She knows how bodies actually move and where traditional sewing patterns quietly fall short. And that gap is everywhere in sewing.
You can start with a beautifully designed pattern, follow every step perfectly, and still end up with a garment that doesn’t fit your body. Too tight in one place. Too loose in another.Endless adjustments.Compromises accepted as “just how sewing works."
We didn’t believe that had to be true.
ALTR HOUSE WAS BORN FROM ONE SIMPLE QUESTION.
WHAT IF THE PATTERN FIT THE BODY FROM THE START?
This is where Rickey comes in.
Rickey works in technology as a lead business analyst, where his primary role is turning ideas into reality. His day-to-day work centers on taking a vision, breaking it down into clear systems, and translating it into detailed technical specifications that teams can actually build from.
That skill became essential to ALTR HOUSE.
Before this, Rickey ran a cut-and-sew apparel brand, creating men’s and women’s garments from scratch and managing everything behind the scenes, from production and logistics to operations and growth. He understands what it takes to bring clothing to life, not just creatively, but structurally.
Today, he leads a focused tech team, translating Karly’s pattern logic into an intuitive, reliable platform that keeps the craft front and center while the complexity stays behind the scenes.
THE RESULT IS ALTR HOUSE
IT'S CREATIVE CONTROL WITHOUT INTIMIDATION.
PRECISION WITHOUT RIGIDITY.
TECHNOLOGY THAT STAYS QUIETLY IN THE BACKGROUND WHILE CRAFT STAYS FRONT AND CENTER.
